PGFTU’s celebrates 7 October World Day for Decent Work and insists on the protection and dignity of Palestinian workers especially in the green works

On 7th of October PGFTU will have a very special ceremony on the occasion of the World Day for Decent Work. This global day of action and mobilization – 7 October 2008 – is organized by the Decent Work, Decent Life campaign, led by the International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC). This ceremony will be held on 7th of October at 11.am at the central headquarter of the PGFTU in Nablus city . During this ceremony many unionist leaders will give speeches to highlight the following :

* The importance of the Decent Work which is regarded the only sustainable way out of poverty and is fundamental to build democracy and social cohesion;

*Placing Decent Work at the core of development, economic, trade, financial and social policies at the national, European and International level. * The barbaric practices of the Israeli army at the checkpoints towards the Palestinian workers . * The necessity of the health and safety procedures at the worksites . *The high percentage of poverty and unemployment. * The suffering of the Palestinian workers especially in the field of green works .
