The CMKOS and its affiliated branch trade unions continue in their intensive campaign under the slogan “Open your eyes” against drastic cuts of public finances and against a number of reforms (pension, health, taxation, labour legislation, etc. reforms) adopted by the Czech Government and the Czech Parliament. These reforms contribute to dismantling the European Social Model and go against the principle of decent work. Several protest activities were organised during last months. Recently, 180 trade unionists from the CMKOS and its affiliates took part at the ETUC Eurodemonstration in Wroclaw on 17 September.
The Session of the CMKOS Council in September dealt with the WDDW and information on the WDDW was disseminated through CMKOS internet, intranet. The press information on WDDW is placed on the CMKOS webpage.
The CMKOS Committee for Equal Opportunities held its session on 4 October and joined the WDDW.
Several TU affiliates hold their sessions these days (6-7 October) and will use this opportunity to commemorate the WDDW :
The trade union OS KOVO (metalworkers union) holds a session of its policy making body where the WDDW will be stressed. The CMKOS President will participate in this session.
The Czech-Moravian Trade Union of Workers in Education organises its training seminar and the attention will be paid also to the WDDW principles.
The session of the Council of the Trade Union of Workers in Postal, Telecommunication and Newspaper Services joins the WDDW.
The Czech - Moravian Trade Union of Civilian Employees of the Army as well as the Trade Union of Building Workers of the Czech Republic hold their working sessions with chairpersons of their union’s grassroots organisations. The WDDW will be commemorated at both events.
Some trade union sessions held at regional level or enterprise level these days, for example in Elektrárna Dětmarovice (TU ECHO), will also highlight the WDDW.
Trade Union of Health Service and Social Care in the Czech Republic joined the WDDW addressing and informing its members. The TU leaders in hospitals debated with deputy minister of Health and the WDDW was stressed
