Day for trade union mobilization and public discussions

On the 7 October 2011, on the occasion of the World Day for Decent Work, the Confederation of Labour PODKREPA Bulgaria is organising a national-wide Day for trade union mobilization and public discussions.

Our intention is to provide a large platform for discussions on precarious work issues and to gather together well experienced trade union militants and people, with concrete problems – for example first job seekers, low qualified workers or long term unemployed.

The idea is to give them the opportunity jointly, in informal atmosphere to discuss their personal experience and impediments with the non-standard, risky employment.

The mobilization and public discussions will be effectuated throughout PODKREPA National network of 36 Regional and one National informational offices for Decent Work.

WDDW we will be also our day for trade union protest against precarious work in Bulgaria, because the risky employment is bad for all categories of workers – it creates conditions to cut down wages, it amplifies the unfair practices that disadvantage women and young workers.

Precarious work is an extremely serious problem for Bulgaria, the country with lowest incomes’ levels in EU and has an extremely negative impact on the working conditions and living standards of Bulgarian citizens.

During the discussions will be also scrutinized the practical possibilities for improve the workers’ protection by mobilizing, organizing and bargaining for more secure working places.

All outcomes and suggestions will be summarized and published in flyer with practical propositions how to avoid the non-typical labour contracts. The Flyer will be disseminated via mail and via our intranet site.
