In conjunction with the World Day for Decent Work – October 7:
The AFL-CIO is organizing American Wants to Work week of actions from October 10-16 to promote a real job creation agenda and engage both workers and community members to make sure that happens. State Federation and Central Labor Councils will be holding events around the United States in their communities.
America Wants to Work: The AFL-CIO has six pillars to create and keep jobs:
1) Rebuild America’s infrastructure
2) Revive US manufacturing and stop the export of good jobs overseas
3) Put people in our communities to work doing work that needs to be done
4) Help federal, state and local governments avoid more layoffs and cutbacks of public programs
5) Help fill the massive shortfall of consumer demand by extending unemployment benefits and keeping homeowners in their homes
6) Reform Wall Street so it helps Main Street create jobs.
Our activities around the US will be posted on the We Are One site at www.we-r-1.org
As part of the global campaign to gain organizing and bargaining rights for T-mobile USA workers in the United States, on the World Day for Decent Work, the AFL-CIO is supporting a petition campaign called No More Fear at T-Mobile USA.
